I've been taking photographs for over 10 years and in that time the desire to get out and take pictures has ebbed and flowed. Now I'm enjoying it again and a recent 10 week course at the Australian Centre for Photography in Sydney has helped me challenge my ideas on photography, taking a sometimes surreal look at the world. The main thing I try to achieve with my images is to show people, places and situations in a way they may not have been seen before.
I particularly enjoy urban locations, portraits, landscapes and night photography. I mainly work digitally now but try to ensure that I get the image I want from the camera when I take the picture, rather than relying on digital manipulation too much. I use a Minolta Dynax 5D for the majority of my photography, I also have a Sony Cybershot DSC-P100 for snaps, plus a Canon EOS 50E when I feel the need to use film again.
I'm lucky enough to have travelled to a number of places around the world and travel photography is certainly a passion of mine. You'll find a number of images in the galleries taken on my travels, of course now I have Sydney as the backdrop to my photography.
